Our Commitment to Sustainability
We believe that beautiful products can be made sustainably, and we strive to keep our business green while maintaining the look and quality of our fabrics. As a commitment to reducing our waste and environmental impact, we examine both our own practices and our choice in vendors, accepting responsibility as a company to look honestly at our actions and minimize our footprint as much as possible.
Our standard linen ground is sustainably sourced from a CO2-neutral supplier. A member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, their processes and materials comply with standards set by the European Union and have undergone thorough testing for harmful substances.
As an additional service, we offer GreenShield stain treatments, a natural, non-toxic option that provides resistance to both water- and oil-based stains. Naturally-inspired and water-based, GreenShield protection is made with no formaldehydes, contains a third of the amount of chemicals in other finishes, and has no impact on a fabric’s feel, texture, or recyclability.
To create less waste during shipments, we send all of our smaller deliveries in EcoEnclose packaging. These recyclable poly mailers are made with 100% recycled materials and 50% post-consumer materials, and contain a reusable tear strip, extending the life of each mailer.
As part of the LOCAL VARIETY sustainable collection, the Tree of Life design was created in collaboration with three other interior designers to celebrate the beauty of varied perspectives. A portion of all proceeds is donated to FABSCRAP, INC., a New York-based organization aiming to eliminate commercial textile waste.
Our linen supplier is certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100. All of our standard linen is made sustainably and from the same CO2-neutral source.
GreenShield is certified by the Scientific Certification System as compliant with indoor air quality standard CA 01350.
As of 2014, our linen supplier’s weaving mill has reached CO2 neutrality, certified by CO2Logic.com.
